SummaryAre you looking for a career that fulfills all aspects of your being? If so, having a multidimensional career might be the answer! In this article I discuss how to build a multidimensional career by discovering your values and goals, identifying your skills and interests, and exploring different options for creating a multidimensional career that allows you to fully embody the full spectrum of your talents & interests.

Somehow I could never tie myself down to just one thing. For as long as I can remember I have been multi-passionate. Perhaps that's why I double majored at University and split my interest between legal studies and languages. I'm always looking for new skills to learn and new experiences to have. I  just love the thrill of discovering something new and applying it to my current projects; finding connections between seemingly disconnected life areas has always sparked my interest. If this sounds like you, then maybe you need to explore a career that aligns with your multidimensional nature.

What's a Multi-Dimensional Career?

Multi-dimensional careers encompass multiple professions or streams of work into one. You may have heard of it as a slash / career or a portfolio career. Regardless of the title, this type of career helps you to fill the gaps where one thing just doesn't give you that sense of fulfillment and all that you might be looking for in your work. Multi-dimensional careers are characterized by flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to pivot between different areas of work. This type of career allows for greater creativity, exploration, and growth, as well as the opportunity to gain a variety of skills and experience. It also provides more stability than the traditional route, as it is less likely to be affected by economic downturns or changes in the job market.

Pursuing a multidimensional career is like putting together a puzzle with many pieces. Each piece works together to form a complete picture, and when all the pieces are in place it creates a more comprehensive and satisfying experience than a single job can provide.

The beauty of this approach is that it allows you to develop a wide range of skills that can be applied to different contexts and can open up opportunities for greater personal and professional growth. Plus, it also gives you the flexibility to adjust your career path as needed; especially in the face of unpredictable circumstances.

Multidimensional careers have many benefits. Not only is it more enriching and fulfilling, but it also increases your employability and provides you with greater financial security. Having multiple sources of income can protect you from economic downturns or job losses in one area. Having a variety of skills can also make you more attractive to employers, since you can easily switch between roles and are armed with a rather unique combination of skills and experience.
